In order to meet the needs in the rapidly developing Civil Aviation sector and to train qualified personnel, Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University (MAKÜ), which is one of the universities established for this purpose, celebrated the World Civil Aviation Day on December 6 and 7 with a program organized in two sessions by the lecturers of the Social Sciences Vocational School Civil Air Transport Management Program and the MAKÜ Free Wings Community and students, in the conference and exhibition hall of Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University.
The program was organized under the chairmanship of Dr. Raşit Acar, one of the lecturers of the Social Sciences Vocational School Civil Air Transport Management department.
On December 6, the conference featured experienced names from the aviation sector as speakers, including Air Traffic Controllers Murat Yıldız from DHMİ Antalya Airport, Apron Officer Selin Yıldız from DHMİ Operations Chief, Captain Pilot Meriç Doğan Öner and Aşkım Pelin Öner from Pegasus Airlines, Cabin Services Chief İpek Bingöl from BBN Airlines, and Aircraft Technician Özgür Bingöl from FLYNAS.
On December 7, the ground services company ÇELEBİ participated as speakers at the conference. Experienced names from the aviation sector, such as Operations Chief Selim Emre Sofu, Passenger Services Chief Aydın Malikov, Human Resources Officer Suzan Kahraman, and Training Specialist Bülent İdem from Antalya Airport, attended.
Before the speakers took their places, Merve Vur and İlayda İstanbul, students from the Civil Air Transport Management department of Mehmet Akif Ersoy University Social Sciences Vocational School, made the opening speech. In their speech, our students informed the guests about the importance of the aviation sector. Then, Prof. Dr. Özlem Mutlu Tagay, Director of Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University Social Sciences Vocational School, made a speech based on striking statistics about the sector, which was listened to with interest by those present in the hall.
After the invitation of the speakers to the stage; Air Traffic Controllers Murat Yıldız and DHMİ Operations Chief Apron Officer Selin Yıldız, in their speech at the event, talked about how important their jobs are and how significant their contributions to safe flights are, what to pay attention to in the recruitment processes, and the conditions sought in the recruitment processes.
Captain Pilot Meriç Doğukan Öner and Aşkım Pelin Öner provided MAKÜ students with information on the necessary conditions to become a pilot, the job description of pilots, and the paths that can be followed to become a pilot.
Cabin Officer İpek Bingöl from BBN Airlines, upon seeing the young people who seriously consider this profession in response to her question "Who wants to be a Cabin Officer?" to the hall, conveyed to the young people how to become a cabin officer, how important language is, what they pay attention to in recruitment, and what they encounter.
Aircraft Technician Özgür Bingöl from FLYNAS, due to his long presence in the sector, conveyed important information about his profession to the young people.
Çelebi Antalya Station Training Specialist Bülent İdem, Passenger Services Chief Aydın Malikov, and Human Resources Officer Suzan Kahraman told the young people how they entered aviation and that they could meet young people who love their job, have language proficiency, and accept their jobs as their own in the future business life during recruitment. Çelebi Antalya Station Operations Chief Selim Emre Sofu provided information to young aviators about the topics in the sector they entered through a presentation on Çelebi's past, present, and the jobs it performs.
The program ended with the announcement of a captain by Captain Pilot Meriç Doğukan Öner and the question-answer part, the presentation of commemorative thank-you certificates by the department lecturers to the guests, and the wish that the World Civil Aviation Day conference on December 7 will be held again next year with a high-participation organization.
